SHEFFIELD DARNELL GREYHOUND STADIUM

The city of Sheffield has had a number of greyhound tracks in the past and one of the less well known was on Wellington Grounds in Darnell and situated at 1° 24' W 53° 23' N.The track operated under NGRC rules and was operational by 1933.

The track circumference was 392 yards, with Standard races run over 475 yards, distance races over 530 yards and extended races over 650 yards.

Track Records, as of 1947, are shown below together with an indication of how fast the time is in comparison to other tracks, both for currently open and defunct tracks, in the UK. Ratings are between 0 and 100, where 100 is an extremely fast time and reflects the speed of the track, tightness of the circuit and quality of greyhound visiting the tracks. I am grateful to Tony Nash for providing the data.
